DAVID Beckham will be invited to appear for his new U.S. soccer club’s major sponsor in Adelaide on Valentine’s Day next year.

Beckham is reportedly earning $172,860 a day after joining Los Angeles Galaxy from Spain’s Real Madrid in July.

He is listed as Forbes Magazine’s 15th most popular celebrity in the world this year.

Beckham is set to headline LA Galaxy’s sponsor Herbalife’s 25th global anniversary celebration at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

The Adelaide Convention Tourism Authority won the bidding rights to host the February four-day event over Brisbane and Sydney.

ACTA administration and finance chief Mary White said she was hoping Beckham would accept the invitation.

“David Beckham has been talked about in regards to making an appearance at the Herbalife convention,” she said. “He is the most popular sportsperson in the world.”

Mrs White revealed Herbalife’s Australia and New Zealand chief sales manager, Shobie-Anne King, instigated the call for Beckham.

“Shobie-Anne has asked for David Beckham,” she said. “She has talked about the proposal to Herbalife’s head office in the U.S.”

The company was set to attract more than 2000 product distributors and VIP directors to Adelaide next year, she said.

“Economically the conference is estimated to generate more than $2 million worth of income to SA,” she said.

Beckham yesterday played his first full match for Galaxy in front of a full house of 66,237 fans at New York’s Giants Stadium.

However, he was unable to stop Galaxy from losing 4-5 to New York Red Bull.

Beckham is guaranteed to play for LA Galaxy against Sydney FC in an exhibition match at the Telstra Stadium on November 27.
