Multilevel marketer settles lawsuit

Multilevel marketer settles lawsuit

Associated Press - July 28, 2008 12:35 PM ET

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Nutritional supplement and skin care products company USANA Health Sciences Inc. has settled a long-standing dispute with a multilevel marketing critic who agreed to shut down one Web site and take information off another.

Self-proclaimed fraud buster Barry Minkow also pulled interviews with failed USANA distributors from You Tube.

Other terms weren’t disclosed, but USANA said Monday it was happy with the settlement.

Minkow said he was going after a much bigger multilevel marketer, Los Angles-based Herbalife Ltd., which sells nutritional supplements and weight-loss product.

Minkow served eight years in prison for stock fraud involving a carpet-cleaning business before starting the San Diego-based Fraud Discovery Institute.
